Few names represent Spanish-language urban Christian music like Alex Zurdo: from Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, to the Dove Award and a Latin Grammy nomination, with anthems such as «Sin Ti», «Te Busco», «Mi GPS» and «Guarda Tu Corazón» sung in churches and concerts across the continent. In this entry we tell his complete story and review his entire discography, album by album. If you want to listen to Alex Zurdo with his videos, here we also tell you where to find his Alex Zurdo songs gathered together.

1. Complete biography
From Trujillo Alto to rap (1983-2004)
Alexis Vélez Alberio, known as Alex Zurdo, was born on June 10, 1983, in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico. At age 11 he wrote his first rap songs, and at 13 he got his first piano, which he taught himself to play. In the following years he took part in secular rap and reggaeton productions under the name «Zurdo». At 19 he converted to Christianity, a decision that set the course of his music, and at 21 he began his music ministry —ministrations, conferences and seminars— and released his first Christian production, Nada es mío (2004), distributed by Universal Music Latino.
One album a year and the arrival on Billboard (2005-2014)
Between 2005 and 2009 he released one album per year: Con propósito (2005), Se trata de ti (2006, with Jonny L), De Gloria en Gloria – La Trayectoria (2007), Una y mil razones (2008) and Así son las cosas (2009). His seventh work, Mañana es hoy (2012), took three years to make, was promoted with the single «¿Dónde estás?», about the importance of fatherhood, and was his first album to enter the Billboard charts: it debuted at number 9 on Latin Rhythm Albums and stayed more than 20 weeks in the top 15. In 2014 came De la A a la Z, featuring Redimi2, Christine D’Clario, Nancy Amancio and Samuel Hernández, which debuted at number 4 on Billboard’s Latin Rhythm Albums.
AZ Live, the award-winning album and UNO (2016-2025)
On the «De la A a la Z» tour his first live album was recorded, AZ Live (2016), at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot. In 2018 he released ¿Quién contra nosotros?, his tenth album, featuring Redimi2, Funky, Marcos Witt, Melvin Ayala, Manny Montes, Gabriel Rodríguez EMC, Indiomar, Natán El Profeta and Kike Pavón, among others. The album won him the Dove Award for Spanish Language Album of the Year and the Arpa Award for Best Urban Album, plus a Latin Grammy nomination. In 2020 he released M.E.M.E. (short for «Menos Ego, Más Enfoque», «Less Ego, More Focus»), with «Toca la guitarra, Viejo», dedicated to his father, who suffers from Alzheimer’s. In February 2021 he released UNO, together with Funky and Redimi2, followed by his first EP, DTOX (2022), Conxsión (2023), DUAL (2024, with Gabriel Rodríguez EMC), UNO (Live) (2025) and MAYDAY (2025). On April 8, 2008, he married Denisse Contreras; their first child was born in 2011 and their second in 2014.
