«Victory Is Won on Your Knees»: Pastor Danilo Montero’s Sermon on Prayer

There are battles that are not won by fighting harder, but by praying deeper. In this powerful sermon, Pastor Danilo Montero teaches us that prayer is the place where true spiritual victories are won, and he proves it with the supreme example: Jesus in Gethsemane.

Though He was the Son of God, Jesus «learned obedience by the things which He suffered» (Hebrews 5:8), and that school of obedience had only one classroom: prayer. It was on His knees, in tears and struggle, that His humanity surrendered and His spirit received divine strength to say: «Not My will, but Yours, be done».

Danilo teaches that this Gethsemane was not Jesus’ alone: prayer is also our Gethsemane — the place where our ego dies and the Holy Spirit takes control, where inner battles are won, where we learn to surrender our will, and where we receive grace to resist temptation, fear, and weariness. Praying is not always easy: there is struggle, there is waiting, there is silence. But that is where the supernatural happens.

Jesus already won the battle for us, but He left us the path: pray until something changes in us, pray until we can say with all our hearts: «Thy will be done». Because spiritual victory is not won out there… it is won on our knees.
