“Trust with All Your Heart”: The Wisdom of Proverbs 3:5-6 That Straightens Your Path

Por Matias
Proverbs 3:5-6 — Trust with All Your Heart

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
— Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)

King Solomon, the wisest man of his time, left this counsel as the very heart of the book of Proverbs: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart”. It is not a half-hearted trust, nor seeking God only when things go wrong; it is surrendering to Him the entirety of our heart, our plans, and our fears.

“Lean not on your own understanding” reminds us that our logic is limited: we see only the present, but God sees the whole road. That is why the verse continues with a daily invitation: “In all your ways acknowledge Him” — bringing God into every decision: work, family, finances — as an inseparable companion.

And then comes the promise: “He shall direct your paths.” Where your walk seemed crooked, full of obstacles and detours, the hand of God traces a straight road. Trusting is not closing your eyes: it is opening them to the certainty that the One who directs your steps never makes mistakes.

Here is this video from the Sabiduría de Dios ministry that goes deeper into this teaching:

Today’s application: before making that decision that keeps you up at night, acknowledge Him on that road and let Him direct your paths.
