Paraguay: President Peña to present the decree for Evangelical Church Day

Paraguayan President Santiago Peña will present this Friday, November 6, the regulatory decree for the law recognizing the National Day of the Evangelical Church, during the National Prayer Breakfast at the Paseo La Galería Events Hall in Asunción. The program will begin at 7:00 in the morning, with the president expected to arrive around 7:30, and the keynote message will be given by conference speaker and evangelist Alberto Mottesi.

The Chamber of Deputies passed the bill on September 22, 2026, establishing the “last Sunday of October each year” as National Day of the Evangelical Church. The law was enacted on October 26 and published on October 28, and it seeks to recognize the spiritual, educational, cultural, social and humanitarian work carried out by evangelical churches and organizations in the country. The law also calls on the Ministry of Education and Science, through the Vice Ministry of Worship, to include the commemoration in the school calendar and promote related educational activities. Ministers, legislators, representatives of public institutions and religious, business and educational leaders are expected to attend.

“The Chosen” releases the trailer for its sixth season, the most intense yet

The Chosen has released the new trailer for its sixth season, which covers the final hours of Jesus Christ before the crucifixion — a preview showing the most painful moments of Christ, the tensions with the Pharisees and the Roman authorities, and the suffering of Jesus and his followers. Prime Video and 5&2 Studios are promoting the new episodes with the line “He was handed over, not taken”.

Dallas Jenkins, the series creator, said that “everyone knows the basics, but not everyone knows the ‘why’ of the crucifixion and the extraordinary events of these 24 hours”. Jonathan Roumie, who plays Jesus, commented as the trailer was released: “My friends, the time is near”, quoting John 3:14-15. According to critics, this is the most ambitious stage of the series, with 89 days of filming in Utah, northern Texas and Matera, in southern Italy — a town known as the “City of Stone” and used by Mel Gibson in The Passion of the Christ for the crucifixion setting. The sixth season will arrive on Prime Video on November 15, 2026, with the premiere of three episodes, followed by one episode per week until December 6. The story will continue in cinemas with a standalone film about the crucifixion, scheduled for March 12, 2027.

Dominican Bible Society marks 75 years with the Bible held high

On November 1, 2026, the Dominican Bible Society marked 75 years since the official establishment of the Bible Society in the Dominican Republic, an event of deep significance for the history of evangelical Christianity and for the spread of the Holy Scriptures in that country. The work began in 1951, when the steady growth of Dominican evangelical churches demanded a structure able to meet the growing needs of Bible distribution.

The driving force was Dr. Joaquín González Molina, who led the Bible Society’s work from its Havana, Cuba, headquarters and made many visits to the Dominican Republic. Together with Don Julio Postigo, the Rev. Carlos Amado Ruiz and the Rev. Richard Johnson, he formed an Advisory Committee and opened the Bible Agency’s first office in two rooms given by the First Dominican Evangelical Church, on the corner of Mercedes and 19 de Marzo streets in Santo Domingo. Using the Penzotti method, colporteurs carried the Bible from house to house. In 1962 the Rev. Álvaro Vicioso Santil was installed as full-time Bible promoter; in 1984 the House of the Bible was dedicated, and since 2008 the general secretary has been Carmen Luisa Checo de Acosta. The institution celebrates this anniversary reaffirming its lifelong conviction: that the Word of God must keep running and being glorified in every corner of the nation, because “generations, distribution methods and means of communication have changed; but the fundamental mission remains intact: that the Bible may be known, read and lived by all”.

United States: young adults aged 18 to 22 attend church more than the adult average

America’s youngest adults show a mixed picture in their life of faith, according to a new Pew Research Center report published on October 28 through the Pew-Knight Initiative: about 41% of adults aged 18 to 22 said they attend religious services at least once or twice a month, compared with 33% of the general adult population in the United States. However, this group is no more religious today than young adults of the same age in 2014.

The contrast appears in the 23-to-26 age group, the least religious in prayer, the importance of faith and religious identification: only 27% of them reported attending religious services at least once a month. Together, both generations are significantly less religious than young people of the same ages in 2007, although measures of religiosity have risen since 2020. The report also found that young men attend more frequently than young women — something never seen before in Pew surveys — and that in a June 2026 survey, 34% of Americans said they had attended religious services in person during the previous month, while 45% had taken part in person or followed services on television or online: both figures at their highest levels since July 2020. The report concluded that, “after a prolonged decline”, religion in the United States “has shown signs of strength and stability in recent years”.

Caldera, Chile: evangelical churches celebrated their day in Condell Square

In Condell Square in Caldera, in northern Chile, a ceremony was held to mark the Day of Evangelical and Protestant Churches, a date commemorated in that country since 2008 and recalling the day Martin Luther nailed the 95 Theses to the church door at Wittenberg Palace, launching the Protestant Reformation in 1517. The ceremony was led by the mayor of Caldera, Brunilda González, and the president of the Evangelical Pastors Council, Pastor Eduardo Carrasco, together with women and men pastors and brothers and sisters from different churches in the town.

The day began with the simultaneous raising of the Chilean flag and the evangelical flag, and included a Bible reflection and words from Pastor Carrasco, the mayor and other pastors. Pastor Carrasco’s address focused on the fundamental role of women evangelists in the country. The mayor expressed “our admiration for all the evangelizing work of this Christian people in our town, region and country”, and noted that the municipality has supported this commemoration for years. Pastor Carrasco thanked the mayor and her team, and reaffirmed the churches’ commitment to remain alongside the community: “this date is very special to reaffirm our faith”.

Spiritual impact

These five news items show the church present where the future of nations is decided, on the screens that shape millions, in the Word sown for 75 years, and in the young people returning to church pews. From Paraguay’s decree to Caldera’s square, faith does not hide: it prays for its authorities, proclaims Christ and serves its people with perseverance.

Prayer focus

Let us pray for Paraguay and its National Prayer Breakfast, that recognition of the churches may lead to more service and religious freedom; for young people in the United States, that their church attendance may become a living and personal faith; and for the Dominican Bible Society and all the churches of Chile, that the Word may keep running and being glorified.

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path” — Psalm 119:105.
