Rojo: complete biography and discography with all their albums and songs

Few bands have shaped Spanish-language Christian rock like Rojo: from Sonora, Mexico, to gold records, with six Premios Arpa, three Latin Grammy nominations and anthems such as «No Me Soltarás», «Solo Tú» and «Brillaré» that are sung in churches across the continent. In this post we tell you their full story and review their entire discography, album by album and song by song. If you want to listen to Rojo with their videos, here we also tell you where to find their Christian music gathered together.

1. Complete biography

From Sonora to the stage (2000-2001)

Rojo is a Mexican Christian rock band formed in 2000 by bassist Emmanuel Espinosa. Since their youth, in the early 1990s, Emmanuel and drummer Rubén González dreamed of forming their own band; by the end of the century guitarist Oswaldo Burruel joined and, with Annette Moreno as vocalist, Rojo was formed. They debuted in Los Angeles, California, during a Youth Congress led by Luis Enrique Espinosa, Emmanuel’s brother. In 2001 they released their self-titled debut album Rojo and began touring Latin America, the United States, Spain and Japan.

Gold records and consecration (2002-2009)

Annette Moreno left the band to start her solo career and was replaced by Linda Espinosa, Emmanuel’s wife, as lead vocalist. In 2003 they released 24/7, with songwriting collaborations by Juan Salinas and Jesús Adrián Romero, which went gold in 2004, just as their debut had in 2003. In 2004 came Día de Independencia, and in 2005 their first DVD, Pasaporte, followed by the compilation Edición Especial and the EP Navidad (2006). In May 2007 they released Con el Corazón en la Mano, with «Solo Tú», winner of the Premio Arpa for Song of the Year, and «No Me Soltarás». Then came Remixes y Más (2008) and Apasionado por Tí (2009), winner of the Premio Arpa for Album of the Year.

Farewell and return (2010-2018)

In 2010 they released the compilation Rojo 10 Años, with their greatest hits. In 2012, after 12 years as a band, they announced their farewell with the «ADios Gracias» tour, a play on words between «adiós» and «a Dios gracias», through the United States and Latin America. The band remained active and in 2018 returned with A Partir de Hoy, an EP with «Bendito Jesús» and «Pertenezco a Ti». In total, Rojo won six Premios Arpa and was nominated three times for the Latin Grammy and once for the Dove Award. Their leaders, Emmanuel and Linda Espinosa, later formed the duo Emmanuel y Linda, but Rojo remains one of the most beloved bands in Spanish-language Christian rock.
