Cassiane: complete biography and discography with all her albums and songs

Cassiane is one of the most beloved voices of Brazilian gospel: a Pentecostal pastor, songwriter and singer with more than 40 years of career, the voice behind hymns like «Com Muito Louvor», «Hino da Vitória» and «Imagine» sung in churches around the world. In this post we tell her complete story and review her entire discography, album by album. If you want to listen to Cassiane with her videos, here we also tell you where to find her songs by Cassiane gathered on Música Cristiana.

1. Complete biography

Childhood and first steps in Nova Iguaçu (1973-1992)

Cassiane Santana Santos Manhães Guimarães was born on January 27, 1973, in Nova Iguaçu, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, into an evangelical home of the Assemblies of God church, where she has sung since birth. Daughter of José dos Santos and Castália dos Santos, at age 3 she was already singing in church services with her family’s support. At 11 months she contracted an unexplained illness; her mother took her to the old INPS post in Nova Iguaçu, where her death was declared, but the singer affirms that God restored her life through the prayer of a church member.

In 1981, at only 8 years old, she recorded her first album, «Cristo é a Força». In the 80s she released «Dou Glória a Deus» (1983), «Rosa de Saron» (1985), «Desafio» (1987) and «União» (1990); in 1986 she recorded the LP «Musical Evangélico» with Andrea Fontes, singing only the side-A tracks. In 1992 she independently released «Atualidades», later distributed by MK Music, and in 1993 she signed with MK Music and released «Força Imensa», with the hits «Igreja Pequena» and «Entrega». In 1994 she released «Puro Amor» produced by Jairinho Manhães, her childhood friend, whom she married on October 28 of that year; they are parents of Jayane, Caio and Joshua.

Breakthrough: «Sem Palavras» and «Com Muito Louvor» (1996-1999)

Her definitive breakthrough came in 1996 with «Sem Palavras», her first album to sell more than 100,000 copies (gold record), with «Imagine», «Valeu a Pena» and «Vencedor Sempre Serei»; in 1997 the album’s VHS came out, her first video. It was followed by «Para Sempre» (1998, platinum record) and «Com Muito Louvor» (1999), her most successful work: triple platinum, with more than 2 million estimated copies, and hits like «Com Muito Louvor», «Hino da Vitória», «Fogo Santo» and «Festa no Céu».

Pastor and the Sony and MK eras (2000-2013)

In 2005 she was ordained as a pastor — the first woman ordained to the pastorate in a historic-ministry Assemblies of God church (Madureira Ministry), alongside her husband; since 2014 they lead the ADALPHA church in Alphaville, Barueri (São Paulo). That same 2005 she recorded the DVD «25 Anos de Muito Louvor» before about 8,000 people. After not renewing her contract with MK Music she released «Faça Diferença» (2007) on her Reuel Music label, amid a legal conflict that was settled in 2009. In July 2010 she signed with Sony Music and released «Viva» (double platinum) and «Ao Som dos Louvores» (2011), leaving the label in October 2013. In May 2009 she premiered the talent show «Levitas» on Rede CNT, and published the book «Uma Vida Com Muito Louvor» (2011).

Still going strong (2014-2026)

In 2014 she signed with distributor Onimusic and in September 2015 she returned to MK Music, where she released «Harpa – Vol. 2» and «Eternamente» (2015). «Nível do Céu» (2018) earned her first Latin Grammy nomination (best Portuguese-language Christian album). She is one of the most representative voices of Brazilian Pentecostal gospel: in 2021 MK Music reported more than 700,000 monthly Spotify listeners, more than 700,000 Deezer followers and more than 100 million YouTube views in 12 months. In 2024 she celebrated 40 years of career with the «40 Anos» project, and in 2026 she received, alongside Jairinho, the tribute of the Friends of Zion Museum in Jerusalem.
