More than 100,000 people celebrated Jesus in the streets of Buenos Aires
Not even the rain could stop one of the largest Christian gatherings of recent times in Argentina. On Monday, October 12, more than 100,000 people took part in Experiencia Gospel 2026, a free event that filled downtown Buenos Aires, from the Obelisk to Plaza de Mayo, with 29 stages of music, dance, art, and worship. More than 3,000 volunteers and hundreds of congregations from across the country made the event possible, which closed with more than two hours of celebration and intercession for Argentina. This is the fourth consecutive year of this initiative.

For the first time, Africa hosted the World Congress of the Assemblies of God
From October 14 to 16, Accra, the capital of Ghana, hosted the 10th World Congress of the Assemblies of God, the first time this global gathering has been held on African soil. Leaders and ministers from around the world gathered on behalf of a fellowship that brings together 88 million believers in some 451,000 churches. Among the guests of honor was the president of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, a member of the Assemblies of God of his country. The event reflects the enormous growth of the Pentecostal movement in Africa.

In Chile, almost one evangelical church is established every day
The Chilean evangelical people keep growing from the neighborhoods. Recent records show that in Chile practically a new evangelical church is established every day, and the 2024 Census confirms the trend: 2,466,607 people, 16.3% of the population, identify as evangelical or Protestant, when in 1992 it was 13.2%. The presence is especially strong in the south of the country: in the Biobío region, one in three inhabitants is evangelical. They are small, autonomous communities that accompany the daily life of thousands of families.

Evangelicals in Spain create a network to help families with housing problems
The Spanish Evangelical Alliance presented on October 14 a statement on the housing crisis and announced the creation of “Bajo su higuera,” an evangelical network that aims to accompany 150 vulnerable families during the year of the entity’s 150th anniversary. The initiative will promote emergency funds in churches so that no family loses its home over a few difficult months, will encourage believing homeowners to offer reasonable rents, and will ask the authorities for a state pact for dignified housing. “Housing is much more than a few square meters: it is home, security, and family,” the statement stresses.

Latino pastors ask Florida to pause the death penalty
Latino evangelical pastors in Florida asked the state to halt executions and open a time of reflection on capital punishment, after a condemned woman in Tennessee survived a failed execution attempt at the end of September. The leaders recalled that in Florida 30 people sentenced to death have been exonerated over the years, a figure that, they say, shows the justice system can make mistakes with irreversible consequences. They also asked that cases of people with serious mental illness be taken into account before applying the maximum penalty.

We close the week with this word: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). May every story encourage us to be a church that worships, that grows, and that serves.
