1. Complete biography

Early years in Rio de Janeiro (1976–1994)

Aline Kistenmacker Barros dos Santos was born on October 7, 1976, in Rio de Janeiro, in the Penha neighborhood, daughter of evangelical pastors Ronaldo Barros and Sandra Kistenmacker Barros. Music was part of her life from childhood: at 9 she was already accompanying her father in her church’s praise ministry, at 14 she recorded «Tua Palavra», which spent 45 days at number 1 on Rio’s evangelical radio stations, and at 16 she recorded «Consagração», which spent nine months at the top of Brazil’s evangelical radio and took her to the Xuxa Park show on Rede Globo, the first live Christian music performance on that network. She graduated in Marine Biology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1996), but never practiced the profession: her career as a professional singer had begun in 1992, always as a solo artist. She has been married since 2000 to Gilmar Jorge dos Santos, a former footballer and now a pastor; they have two children, Nícolas and Maria Catherine. She is herself a pastor and now lives in Orlando, Florida, where she attends First Baptist Orlando.

Debut and first Latin Grammy (1995–2003)

Her debut album, Sem Limites, arrived in 1995 and sold 500,000 copies. It was followed by Voz do Coração (1997) and O Poder do Teu Amor (2000), with hits like «Recomeçar» and «Guarda a Tua Fé». In 2003 she released Fruto de Amor, which in 2004 earned her first Latin Grammy for Best Christian Album in Portuguese: she was the first Brazilian evangelical singer to win that award. From that era is also her move into Spanish with Más de Ti (2000) and El Poder De Tu Amor (2003).

Breakthrough: «Som de Adoradores» and «Caminho de Milagres» (2004–2012)

In 2004 she recorded the live Som de Adoradores, which sold 1,200,000 copies (diamond certification on CD and DVD) and was nominated for the 2005 Latin Grammy. In 2007 she filled the Maracanãzinho arena to record Caminho de Milagres, which won the 2007 Latin Grammy. In parallel she created her successful children’s series Aline Barros e Cia (2005, 2008 and 2011), which earned her two more Latin Grammys (2006 and 2012). In 2011 she released Extraordinário Amor de Deus, winner of the 2011 Latin Grammy, and in 2012 she celebrated 20 years of career with a live concert alongside Michael W. Smith, Abraham Laboriel and Tom Brooks.

«Graça», «Reino» and 30 years of career (2013–2026)

The awards streak continued: Graça (2013) won the 2014 Latin Grammy, Acenda a Sua Luz (2017) the 2017 one, and Reino (2019) the 2020 one, bringing her total to eight Latin Grammys, plus ten Troféu Talento awards, seven Troféu Promessas and a Dove Award. In 2019 she released Alive, her English-language album, and in 2020 Redención, in Spanish (nominated for the 2021 Latin Grammy). In 2022 she released Minha Oração (platinum-certified, with «Jeová Jireh» certified double diamond) and in 2023 she celebrated 30 years with the EP 30 Anos, Vol. I and the concert 30 Anos Na Casa. These were followed by Firme Fundamento (2024), Tudo Sobre Ele (2024), Aline Retrô (2025) and Simples Assim (Ao Vivo) (2025). In 2026 she left Sony Music and began operating independently with her AB Records label: she recorded in Nashville her new Spanish-language project, Mil Gracias, with Aaron Moses, Daniel Calveti and Danny Gokey. With more than 30 years of career, 19 gold records, 13 platinum and 3 diamond certifications in Brazil, Aline Barros is the most awarded gospel singer in her country.
