1. Complete biography

A Christian home in Miami (1961-1980)

Danny Berrios, whose full name is Daniel Berrios, was born on October 29, 1961, in Miami, Florida, United States. His father was the well-known Puerto Rican preacher and evangelist José «Pepito» Berrios, and his mother, Clara Berrios, was of Cuban origin. That is why, although he was born in the United States, his ministry identity is closely linked to the Hispanic community and to Puerto Rico. He grew up in a Christian home: he began piano lessons at age nine and singing lessons at twelve.

The start of his ministry (1980-1986)

The year 1980 marks the formal start of his ministry. His first outing to sing was in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, during an evangelistic campaign with his father, where he felt his calling confirmed. From then on he combined music and preaching on tours across Latin America, the United States and other Spanish-speaking territories. He ministered in crusades and events alongside evangelists such as Luis Palau, Alberto Mottesi and Yiye Ávila, and shared the stage with American preachers such as Billy Graham, Morris Cerullo, Jimmy Swaggart, Larry Lee, Steve Fatow and Larry Jones. In 1982 he released his first album, Gloria a Dios, with electric guitar and bass and Rhodes piano, a sound many at the time considered too modern for Christian music. In 1986 that album received a gold record from PolyGram for selling more than 100,000 copies, an especially notable achievement because the recording was in Spanish.

A career spanning more than four decades (1987-2015)

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s he released album after album, in Spanish and also in Portuguese and English, surpassing 25 albums. There followed Él es Jehová (1984), Juntos venceremos (1985), Sigo confiando en ti (1987), Nací para adorar (1995), Dios cuida de mí (2001) and El secreto es alabar (2003), among many others. In 2006 he celebrated 25 years of ministry with a live album recorded at Bellas Artes. In 2009 he released Voy a profetizar, where he used the salsa genre for the first time in one of his songs, with arrangements by Héctor «Perucho» Rivera and Andy Guzmán; the singer himself described it as an album about restoration and about overcoming problems through faith. In 2012 came Aférrate a la fe and in 2015 El mensaje de la cruz.

Family, present day and 45 years of ministry (2020-2026)

Danny Berrios lives in Miami, Florida, with his wife Alma, and is the father of four children: three daughters and one son. In 2020 he worked on a new album with his youngest daughter Danielly, marking her formal debut in this genre. In 2024 he released «Que descienda ahora», his first song with his wife Alma and his daughter Danielly, with an official video recorded at Casa de Amor y Fe in Lakeland, Florida, about the story of the prophet Elijah and the presence of the Holy Spirit. In July 2024 he returned to Venezuela after more than a decade without performing in the country, with a concert in Maracaibo that brought together thousands of people. In November 2025 he celebrated 45 years of ministry with a show at the Coca Cola Music Hall, and in January 2026 the live project 45 Años Después (La Trayectoria) was released.
